Fraud Guard is a free service offered by the Macomb and Wayne County Register of Deeds offices. It helps prevent fraudulent transfers of your property by alerting you to any suspicious activity involving your deed or mortgage. Here's how to sign up: 

Macomb County: 

  1. Visit the Macomb County Register of Deeds website: https://www.macombgov.org/departments/clerk-register-deeds/register-deeds  

  1. Click on "Fraud Notify alerts” and “Launch Fraud Notify”.  

  1. Subscribe to Fraud Guard Alerts by entering and confirming your email address.  

  1. Enter in your Full Last Name and the first 3 letters of your First Name. Click “Add Alert”.  

  1. Click “Save My Alerts”. Once complete you should receive confirmation in your email.  

Wayne County: 

  1. Visit the Wayne County Register of Deeds website: https://www.waynecountylandrecords.com/recorder/eagleweb/fraudGuardSignup.jsp  

  1. Subscribe to Fraud Guard Alerts by entering and confirming your email address.  

  1. Enter in your Full Last Name and the first 3 letters of your First Name. Click “Add Alert”.  

  1. Click “Save My Alerts”. Once complete you should receive confirmation in your email.  

 

property Records Notification (PRN)

Oakland County: 

PRN is a similar service offered by the Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds office. It monitors your property records and sends you email alerts whenever certain documents are filed, potentially signaling fraudulent activity. Here's how to sign up: 

  1. Visit the Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds website: https://www.oakgov.com/government/clerk-register-of-deeds/property-land/property-fraud  

  1. Click on "Property Records Notification". 

  1. Once you are redirected click “Register” in the top right corner to setup an account. A link will be sent to your email to activate your account. 

  1. On the top left of your screen select “Alerts”.  

  1. Search for your property using a name, address, or property ID. 

  1. Select the “Add Alert” button below the search criteria. 

  1. The query will be saved and run daily. Any alerts will be sent to your email.  

Remember: 

  • Signing up for these services is free and takes only a few minutes. 

  • Both Fraud Guard and PRN send alerts only for specific types of activity, so you won't be bombarded with unnecessary emails.
